Honeysuckle Sweep at Harry’s Prairies

January 13 @ 11:00 am - 2:00 pm

Clifftop and Friends of Illinois Nature Preserves are partnering for a Honeysuckle Sweep at Harry’s Prairies in Monroe County, Illinois. Winter is an excellent time to pull and eradicate honeysuckle. We will be removing honeysuckle from two potential work areas.
Join us, January 13, from 11am-2pm. We will be meeting at (38.195784, -90.246594). Equipment and snacks will be provided. Please come dressed appropriately for nature. Harry’s Prairies are a complex of high quality hill prairies that overlook the American Bottoms. Come ready to work and to learn! Email travis@friendsilnature.org to RSVP or if you have any questions.

Things to know before you come:

  • If you are not fully vaccinated, wear a mask if unable to social distance from others at the site.
  • Bring water and a snack. Dress for the wilderness – this should include sturdy boots or shoes, a hat, bug spray, and sunscreen. Long pants and a long sleeve shirt are suggested.
  • We work hard, but at our own pace, and we often take breaks to share snacks and share ideas and nature with each other.

If you are attending a workday at a nature preserve owned by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, please complete and bring the IDNR Volunteer Waiver to the workday when you attend.
