Fults Hill Prairie NP Workday
January 22 @ 11:00 am - 2:00 pm
Celebrate Winter with a workday on a hill prairie. The hill prairies of Illinois are shrinking and at risk of being lost from the Illinois landscape forever. Hill prairies are home to several rare and endangered plants and animals and they need our help to protect them from threats like brush and other weedy invasive plants.
Let’s build a volunteer community to learn to care for this wonder of nature. Make an impact! Join the Friends of Illinois Nature Preserves for a workday at Fults Hill Prairie Nature Preserve.
Come dressed for nature and ready to learn. Join the discussion about protecting the future of this unique ecosystem. We’ll walk and learn and then get to work!

Things to know before you come:
- If you are not fully vaccinated, wear a mask if unable to social distance from others at the site.
- Bring water and a snack. Dress for the wilderness – this should include sturdy boots or shoes, a hat, bug spray, and sunscreen. Long pants and a long sleeve shirt are suggested.
- We work hard, but at our own pace, and we often take breaks to share snacks and share ideas and nature with each other.
If you are attending a workday at a nature preserve owned by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, please complete and bring the IDNR Volunteer Waiver to the workday when you attend.
