Cedar Cliff Forest Preserve – Bell Bowl Prairie Soils (Winnebago County)
June 4 @ 9:00 am - 12:00 pm
Some of thesoil from Bell Bowl Prairie was moved to Cedar Cliff Forest Preserve last month. Plan to join Friends of Illinois NaturePreserves and the Forest Preserves of Winnebago County on Sunday, June 4thfrom 9 am to 12 pm. We will walk the entire site to see why it was chosen andtalk about the stewardship opportunities here in the coming months. We’ll do a bioblitz – a biological inventoryor biological census of the entire site – to study the site so we can monitorand care for the Bell Bowl Prairie soils and surrounding ecosystem. No experience necessary – staff will be onhand to provide training.

Things to know before you come:
- If you are not fully vaccinated, wear a mask if unable to social distance from others at the site.
- Bring water and a snack. Dress for the wilderness – this should include sturdy boots or shoes, a hat, bug spray, and sunscreen. Long pants and a long sleeve shirt are suggested.
- We work hard, but at our own pace, and we often take breaks to share snacks and share ideas and nature with each other.
If you are attending a workday at a nature preserve owned by the Illinois Department of Natural Resources, please complete and bring the IDNR Volunteer Waiver to the workday when you attend.
